Installation
Band Ritual V1.3 is a VST3 plugin. To install, simply copy the plugin file to your system's VST3 folder.
Copy Band Ritual.vst3 to:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
This is the system-wide VST3 folder (not the user folder ~/Library). You may need to enter your password to copy files here. Right-click the file → Copy, then navigate to the folder above and paste.
Remove Gatekeeper Quarantine
macOS blocks plugins downloaded from the internet. After copying the file, open Terminal and run:
sudo xattr -cr /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Band Ritual.vst3
Enter your Mac password when prompted. Without this step, your DAW may silently fail to load the plugin.
Copy Band Ritual.vst3 to:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
After copying the file, restart your DAW or rescan your plugins. Band Ritual V1.3 will appear in your VST3 plugin list.

Quick Start Tips
Basic Vocoder Setup
-
Load Band Ritual V1.3 on a track with audio (vocals, synths, drums — anything works).
-
Turn the MIX knob up to hear the vocoder effect. At 0% you hear the dry signal, at 100% fully vocoded.
-
Choose a Scale & Key to lock the vocoder bands to musical notes. Try C Major or A Minor to start.
-
Experiment with Band Count and Width — more bands = more detail, wider bands = smoother sound.
Sound Design Ideas
Vocal Processing: Load vocals, set to 32–64 bands, choose a minor scale. Automate the MIX knob for dramatic transitions.
Bass Loops & Bass Design: Turn on Complement Mode — this lets your sub bass pass through clean while the mids and highs get vocoded. Try max bands (100) with very low width (0.1–0.2), low attack and release, then dial in the Gate to taste. Use HP Blend to reintroduce high-end presence, and adjust the Low Freq range to control where the vocoder kicks in.
For harmonic control, press M on your keyboard to activate MIDI Chord Trigger, then play chords on the piano keyboard at the bottom — the vocoder will filter its bands to only the notes in your selected chord, letting you play harmonic changes in real-time.
Pad Textures: High band count (64+), narrow width, slow attack/release. Creates evolving, choir-like textures from any source.
Deep Customisation: Press B to open the scrollable Band Carousel and fine-tune individual bands — adjust their gain and Q (resonance width) one by one. Use the note filter buttons to show only bands matching specific notes. Once you've dialled in a sound, save it as a preset to recall any parameter combination instantly.
